When we last posted back in January, we were following along with Martin Spicuzza from Studio Spicuzza on the Steffen kitchen remodel project in Arlington Heights, a northwest Chicago suburb. To see the progress until then, read our earlier blogs: October, November, December 11, and December 17.
Now we have final photos of the Steffen kitchen and an update from Martin!
“The installation of the Steffen kitchen after a year of design and planning has finally been completed.
I attribute one aspect of the success of this project to the amount of time spent at the front end of phase one, design development, and to being extremely diligent in making sure that all of the various elements of the kitchen were well thought out before moving forward with cabinet fabrication, the ordering of appliances, materials and fixtures.
The Steffens spent an afternoon at the Monogram showroom exploring the various appliance options and offerings. The educational luncheon with Chef John enabled the Steffens to make thoughtful appliance decisions that they felt were the best choices to fit their lifestyle and the way they would be using the kitchen for both daily family activities as well as their extensive entertaining.
In late fall of 2014 we were ready for on-site kitchen remodeling. The integration of the Neff cabinets with Monogram appliances was seamless. The Neff installer did a superb job as always, working closely with the general contractor and his subs, the stone fabricator and, of course, myself.
My role as designer had now transitioned into that of project manager. I made sure that the Steffens were constantly updated with the timing of various installation activities and knowing when cabinetry, appliances, counter tops, tiles, etc., would be arriving at their home. On-site meetings are a regular part of this particular project phase. As there were multiple areas to install, which included the kitchen, wine bar, sunroom and family room, it was apparent that close orchestration and collaboration of all efforts was extremely necessary.
Attention to detail from the cabinet finishes, the beautiful Ann Sacks tile backsplashes, the quartzite and granite counter tops, decorative lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware were all of utmost importance. Having a team dedicated to delivering a beautiful end product that they could be proud of was another aspect that contributed to the success of the project.
The Steffen’s love their new kitchen and family room. They couldn’t be happier and expressed how we not only met but went beyond their expectations. This is the heart of their home and the gathering place for all. They have been entertaining family and friends as well as enjoying the enhanced cooking experience that Monogram professional appliances offer.
The last phase for the Steffens was remodeling their entry foyer and powder room as shown in the additional photos.”
