Sneak Peek: Monogram Kitchen Island

Need another reason to believe that Monogram is Elevating Everything in the kitchen? We have it for you. Meet the exclusive Monogram Kitchen Island that was debuted at KBIS this January.

Monogram transformed a typical meeting room into a retro, speakeasy-styled, VIP lounge with the lit up Kitchen Island as the focal point of the dimly lit space. The brand went all out with Flapper girls, signature cocktails, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and of course, a cop to break up the “prohibited” speakeasy party at the end of each exclusive session.

So what exactly is the Monogram Kitchen Island? Brought to the KBIS show as a concept piece to get feedback on how we can perfect this luxury item before the launch, it’s a multi-functional 3.6’ x 7.87’ sheet of the finest black glass-ceramic that is much more than just your standard kitchen island. The elegant Monogram Kitchen Island includes fully integrated induction cooking technology. Therefore, the entire surface is seamless, but has the Monogram five burner induction cooktop with glide-touch controls built right into part of the sheet of glass. This means you can also utilize the WiFi capabilities of our exclusive First Build induction cooking probe for sous vide cooking to achieve perfect cooking results every time you cook. The Kitchen Island also includes a warming zone built into the island that’s perfect for entertaining your guests, whether it’s warming appetizers or keeping your chocolate at the perfect temperature for fondue.

Since all of this technology is seamless, when you’re not cooking, the entire surface acts as your island countertop, workspace, or favorite spot for poker night with friends. However, it doesn’t just have induction cooking technology built-in. The 6 mm thick glass ceramic also has wireless charging capabilities in spots throughout it. So not only can you charge your phone by laying it on the wireless port, but it can also effortlessly power your cordless countertop appliances that are becoming more and more common in everyday consumer’s homes. Talk about wowing your guests in so many ways with something that none of them have.

While this debut of our Monogram Kitchen Island was a concept, we plan on launching the luxury appliance by 2019 due to the overwhelmingly positive response we got at KBIS from designers, dealers, builders and more. Stay tuned for the final launch details on exactly how big it will be, what color options will be available, what shapes it may come in, and what other exciting capabilities could get added to the centerpiece that could Elevate Everything in the kitchens of tomorrow.

Now Open in Denver

In October we opened a new Monogram Design Center at Specialty Appliance in Denver, Colorado. We interviewed Christina Dragota, Monogram Lead Product Specialist, to learn a little more about our new showroom.

SRFD: Tell us about the space.

Christina: It’s like a mini version of our Monogram Design Center in Chicago. People love that space because it not only helps them visualize what their kitchen could look like, but more importantly, what their home could feel like. We wanted to emulate that feeling, but on a more local level, so we decided to partner with Specialty Appliance and create a space that incorporates an innovative yet beautiful design.

SRFD: Why Denver?

Christina: It’s a great city that includes such a diverse manner of living where you can choose to be in a loft downtown, a cabin in the mountains, or both! The real estate business is thriving in Denver, so much so, that in this last year, home builders have increased production by 22 percent just to try to keep up with the incoming population. We wanted to tap into this growing market to really showcase what the Monogram brand is about and build a showroom where people can gather inspiration while learning about our products.

SRFD: What’s something there that is unique?

Christina: We have the first ever indoor, electric Pizza Oven, that requires no venting, NOW installed in a flush application (we don’t even have this in our Chicago location yet). No one has this technology available, let alone installed in this style, which is why we wanted to showcase it live. This allows people to come in our space to see, feel and use this exciting product. Seeing is believing- and we wanted people to take part in that experience.

SRFD: What else will be available in this space?

Christina: We offer cooking demonstrations with our on-site Chef and Design Center Manager so that customers are able to get an overall understanding of whichever products their interested in. When dealing with appliance technology, it’s important that the customer feels confident using it. Whether it’s using an induction cook top for the first time or wanting to perfect your Sous-Vide skills; we offer different types of demonstrations tailored to our customers’ interests. This way, they feel comfortable asking our Chef questions while enjoying meals prepared on our products.

NeoCon 2016

Last month, the Merchandise Mart in Chicago held its annual designer exposition, NeoCon. NeoCon is one of the most recognized and attended trade shows in the industry. This year, more than 50,000 designers walked the halls of the Merchandise Mart viewing the latest and most innovative solutions in commercial design. NeoCon has remained focused on being at the forefront of changing commercial design and business trends.

The Monogram Design Center was buzzing throughout the three-day exposition, with many designers walking through showing a lot of interest in induction cooking. During NeoCon, the Monogram Design Center showcased Sous Vide cooking, a method of cooking in which food is sealed in air-tight plastic bags then placed in a temperature controlled water bath which brings meats, fish, and poultry to the perfect internal temperature each time. We also introduced designers to the new pizza oven, which will be making its debut in the Chicago Design Center later this fall. The Amazon Echo made an appearance during NeoCon. Designers were shown how Monogram appliances are able to be integrated within a smart home. The designers that came through were very intrigued by the pizza oven and expressed a lot of enthusiasm toward the new product. We know they are looking forward to seeing it in person!

On the Tuesday of NeoCon week, Sheri Gold, National Showroom Manager, presented a CEU to a group of designers on how to grow their business through social media. The Social Media CEU offers in-depth explanations of four social media platforms (Twitter, Houzz, Instagram and Pinterest) and how best to use them within the design world. The CEU also provides a brief overview of Hootsuite, Periscope and Snapchat. During the CEU, we had a panel that included Julie McCrary, Social Media Manager for White Good; Monogram Lead Product Specialist Christina Dragota; and Monogram Product Specialist Georgie Vetter to provide their input during the presentation.

Overall, NeoCon was a great week for the Monogram Design Center. We were able to make many new designer contacts and enjoyed being able to give more information on Monogram appliances and what we are doing next.
