Green with Envy Kitchen Revealed

Do you remember the Green with Envy kitchen design? Back in January we gave you a sneak peak of the installation progress. But we first wrote about Elizabeth Rishel’s winning design in our 2014 Kitchen Design Competition last July (here). As a reminder, certified Kitchen Designer Elizabeth Rishel was looking up appliance specs for a client on the Monogram website…

The Monogram Craftsmanship Story

“Sophisticated styling and exceptional craftsmanship set Monogram apart from all other appliance brands. We don’t cut corners. We polish them to seamless perfection.”

This year Monogram decided to let you peek behind the curtain to learn more about their design and manufacturing processes … telling the story of the craftsmen (and women) whose minds and hands bring these unique appliances to life.

The story behind all Monogram refrigerators is just one example. Each Monogram refrigerator is constructed by expert craftsmen, with painstaking attention to detail. The Monogram team interviewed individuals integrally involved in the building and design of these refrigerators, from Louisville, Kentucky, to Selmer, Tennessee.

“I know the work is done when the edges are smooth and clean. Of all the jobs I’ve had in this factory, this one is my favorite. I like the flow of it.” – Thomas Crewse, stainless steel welder

“I wanted the owner to know right away, before even touching it, that this fridge was made from quality materials.” – Sally Pipkin, industrial designer

“My father was an engineer, and I’m following in his footsteps. I’m inspired when I see a product I worked on in people’s homes.” – Dave Schofield, design manager

Built by hand in the heart of America using glass and metals, the Monogram French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator is the embodiment of artistry and workmanship. Follow along on www.monogram.com over the next few months to hear more stories about the men and women responsible for crafting the Monogram appliances destined for your home.

KBIS 2015 Recap: KOHLER

An exciting event for companies and individuals involved in the design world is the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), which was held in Las Vegas this year. In addition to introducing new Monogram products to designers in our own booth, we took the opportunity to check out other booths for trends, highlights, and new products. One product that we were very impressed with is the KOHLER Choreograph shower wall and accessory collection – which is a shower system that allows you to design a shower around your needs. This was a hot new item at KBIS 2015, and a brand new product offering by KOHLER.

Typically, tub surrounds and one-piece shower systems tend to be basic and lack features. Thanks to KOHLER’s Choreograph collection, however, your shower can be customized to create a beautiful and well-organized system that works ideally for you. Choreograph still has the efficiencies and convenience of a one-piece shower surround – such as low daily maintenance because of the lack of grout lines to clean – yet in a much more stylized manner. With the many color patterns and designs available for the wall panels and accessories, it’s easy to create a shower that fits your functional and aesthetic requirements. A unique element of the Choreograph collection is the ability to select wall accessories (known as “lockers”) to accommodate the products your family uses regularly. With various sizes available, even the jumbo bottles now have a place in the shower! There are quite a few options for shelving and storage, and you can even create a shower system such that each family member has their own locker.

In short, the KOHLER Choreograph shower wall and accessory collection is highly functional and high-style. The response in the booth was very positive and our friends at Kohler were kept busy providing overviews of the collection to groups of 25 designers, architects and builders at a time. Can’t wait to see what they show next year!
