Perfection takes time and at the Mountain Lane Show House, it was entirely worth the wait.
This picturesque Colorado mountain escape has been a labor of love for owner Laura Umansky and her firm, Laura U Design Collective. Overcoming supply chain issues and COVID delays, the first showhouse in the Snowmass Village area is now finished. And the best part is, the family can now officially call this perfect project home.
Laura, her husband and their twin girls, are fully settled in and enjoying every aspect of the space. Their favorite room so far? The kitchen, of course.
“Our kitchen is everyone’s favorite spot in our home. It is central to our great room, and we are in that space all day, every day,” says Laura. “During the weekday, the girls are sitting at the bar for breakfast and dinner, and on the weekends we are pouring wine and cooking with friends.”
Monogram outfitted the family’s previous kitchen in Houston, Texas, so it was an easy choice to collaborate again.
“I fit my design around my appliance suite, so I knew I wanted to incorporate Monogram’s newest and most design-centered products,” says Laura. “My favorite feature is the gorgeous Monogram 48″ Pro Gas Range and custom brass hood. The whole kitchen was completely reconfigured for the center point to be on that range. It is stunning!”
Aesthetically, the brass touches are front and center in the kitchen, which is open to the living spaces and foyer. With such an open floor plan, it was essential that the kitchen be a true showpiece.
Laura rounded out her appliance choices with the 30” Fully Integrated Wine Sommelier Advantium Smart 5-in-One Wall Oven, the Integrated Column Refrigerator and Freezer, and the Smart Fully Integrated Dishwasher.
“The Advantium is amazing and lifechanging for our family,” Laura says. “We are constantly on the go, and the smart features Monogram provides give us time back in our day. We can cook chicken for dinner in 15 minutes while helping the girls with their homework.”
Husband Michael Umansky, the cook of the family, is especially fond of Monogram’s advanced technological capabilities – app-controlled cooking, speed-cook function and the Pro Range TruTemp technology.
“When juggling multiple cooking functions, the Monogram Smart HQ app provides useful notifications and even allows me to control the appliance from my phone. This is incredibly helpful while cooking and helping two 10-year-olds with homework,” he says. “The Monogram appliance packages are smart, beautiful, efficient, and provide incredible cooking performance. The smart appliance revolution is well underway, and Monogram is leading the charge.”
As busy entrepreneurs and parents, the efficiency and connectivity was a must. Michael can use his phone to set oven and dishwasher functions from the nearby ski slopes, and the clutch wine refrigerator would be ready for entertaining guests after a long day outside.
“We always believe the kitchen is the heart of the home, and our design has definitely radiated out into the other elements of the house from there,” says Laura. “We are excited to now be able to introduce this beauty to the world.”

A grand opening event was held in March with a VIP House Warming, cooking demo and in-person tours. Virtual tours are ongoing with proceeds from ticket sales going directly to supporting Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, whose mission is to recognize “human beings’ lifelong need to develop personal creativity and to discover, learn and grow through artistic expression.”
Virtual guests will also receive a curated gift box of local goodies in the mail, including an Aspen Candle, co-branded Monogram matches, and more.
“At Laura U Design Collective, our projects are driven by passion, purpose and personality,” Laura says. “Every home we design seeks to fulfill these three things. Mountain Lane has most definitely done just that.”
