A Renovated Transitional Modern Home in East Boca Raton

While it took just seven months to renovate their two-story home, the wish list had been years in the making.

“Being in the kitchen and bath business, my wife and I visited many shows and saw lots of amazing features we could include in our home,” says Michael Giambalvo, owner of Phil’s Custom Cabinets in East Boca Raton, Fla. The two decided the kitchen would be the starting point of their renovation as a central gathering place in their home. “We live in our kitchen,” says Giambalvo.

Outfitted with all Monogram appliances, the Giambalvo family can cook and entertain in the space with ease – and with all the necessary conveniences. “My business has me often working late hours. Having a warming drawer allows my wife to keep my dinner warm until I’m home, and that was a huge selling point for us,” Giambalvo explains.

A main highlight in the space is the LED birdcage light fixture that spans seven feet long and hangs above the five-foot galley sink; space for multiple family members to pitch in for prep work or clean-up.  “When you’re at the sink, you are just a couple of steps away from everything in the kitchen,” he says. Not only is the island a focal point, it’s also ultra-functional.

The outdoor living space was an integral piece to this Florida home. The doors leading out from the kitchen stack together and slide out of the way providing the perfect indoor/outdoor living area that flows seamlessly. The Giambalvos’ kitchen also features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, eliminating the need for more traditional furniture pieces like a china cabinet.

“My wife and I wanted a different kind of living space, one which would give us a relaxing and entertaining home to all who visit,” Giambalvo says.

Love this design. Can you tell me the name of the counter and the floor?

Great question! We will ask the designer and get back to you.
