Three years. Three kids. One shower. I think we’ve all experienced a time where we talk about renovating, then we blink, and bam, years have come and gone. For the record, my kids weren’t all born during these last three years … close, but not exactly. We bought my parent’s house (the house I grew up in!) three years ago. The master bathroom hosted a beautiful pink tile wall, a pink tile floor, and a broken shower head. I’m sure you are thinking, “Why didn’t you fix the shower?” This brings me back to the above statement about wanting to complete a project but then life happens.
Rewind to the beginning of this summer! This time we finally went for it, and the project began. Now fast forward to last week. The newly renovated master bathroom is complete and it’s time for the first shower. I’ve been planning this moment for weeks. I know exactly where and how I want to place my shampoo bottles, body wash, and loofah. I turn the water on and step in. Somewhere I know I heard a choir start singing … it was a glorious moment that I’ll never forget. I took in the beautiful, simple design of the tile that was specifically designed with my style in mind, I enjoyed every single spray that flowed out of each shower head, and smiled. I smiled big. The project is finished. And it’s perfect. So, on behalf of everyone who has experienced this moment, THANK YOU. Thank you to all of you Home Designers, Architects and Builders out there creating. It’s because of you that we, your clients, get to experience these wonderfully, euphoric moments.
Wow looks great! Good job!
Thank you! A renovated bathroom is definitely one of life’s little pleasures 🙂
I’d love to know several things about this great renovation, overall size being the most important to me. I now have a large bathtub with a small shower adjacent. Would like to know the dimensions – depth and width please. Also, were you able to do this for a reasonable amount? Looks so wonderful!
Great questions, Rosie! I will check with Lori and get some of the info you are looking for. Thanks.
Hi Rosie – according to Lori, the shower is 6′ long x 3’wide — there is a 12″ bench on one side so standing room is 5′. The cost was reasonable thanks to some family contractor connections. They lucked out and found a simple 12″ x 24″ solid tile for the shower that was on sale. But they made up for the cost savings by adding in the three extra sprays and putting a full length shower door in 🙂 Bottom line is, it “could” be a reasonable renovation, but they kept adding extras …
